Jailhouse Rock Skirt

I found this awesome Jailhouse Rock Elvis fabric when I was shopping for Halloween supplies with my Mom back in spetember. I almost passed it by since I have a closet filled with fabric I need to use. Luckily, Mom talked me into buying it. I am totally in love with the result and it was pretty easy to put together. Thanks Mom.

(The front is the orange and pink side and the back is the blue and green)

The Elvis panels are a plain cotton (the kind sold by the panel to make pillows), the sides and waistbands are stretch jersey. No zipper or buttons required and it’s very comfy. I didn’t use a pattern and it was my first attempt at a pencil skirt. Overall I’m quite pleased. It's probably the absolute best result I've had with freestyle sewing thus far.

Also it makes my bum look pretty fabu/bodacious. (Whichever adjective you prefer.)

Jailhouse Rock is excellent but my top five favorite Elvis tunes are Wear My Ring Around Your Neck, Blue Suede Shoes, Rubberneckin', King Creole, and (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care.

Yeah, I kind of love Elvis a lot. <3

Welcome to the FreakShow!

Hello hello hello!

Once upon a time I made a tumblr account. I was excited, I was optimistic and I vowed that I was going to blog on it. And blog well, with actual content and lots of crafty stuff for the world to see. Eventually I realized that tumblr was really just twitter with more pictures and a bigger word limit.

So then came yesterday in which I was flipping through a good friend of mines craft/fashion blog (Alyssa at What Would Nancy Drew Wear?) It was then that I realized what an utter bum of a hobo I'd been with the whole blog thing. Guilt firmly in place I went about choosing a blog name and making a banner. As well as preparing the reoccurance of my first crafting post that appeared on that decrepit tumblr account and was never heard of again.

Hopefully this will be enough to get me started on an actual blog of worth. Fingers. Crossed. Please.
