A Wedding and a Dress.

Despite being from a big Ukrainian family that gets together constantly, it's been a long time since I've gone to a family wedding. Thankfully, our family broke their 11-year wedding drought yesterday. Everyone had a great time and lots of great clothes. The ceremony was outside the local conservatory and then the reception was in a hall so people got a chance to dress a little more casual and then get dressed up later. Who doesn't love a mid-day dress swap?

For the ceremony I wore the dress I finished earlier this week. I started it last summer but put it aside once it got too cold to wear the finished product. The pattern was McCall's M5657.

I was originally planning to do the B view with the contrast and the pockets but over the winter apparetly some red fabric the pieces were packed away with got wet. It bled pink all over the little yellow pocket pieces so I was forced to scrap the pockets. Also I found that the dress didn't quite sit the same on a curvy girl like me as it did on the skinny model on the pattern. The ruching on the front kind of bagged around my tummy area. Lame. However a thick, cute belt made it look just perfect.

A little stratgic button placement to cover a few awkward sticthes.

My first attempt at a zipper, never mind a hidden one! Definitely not perfect but it isn't an unwearable disaster either.

And because my family is pretty damn stylish I thought I'd post a few fashion oriented photos. First has to be the Bride and Groom, Lori and Matt. Lori designed her dress and had it custom-made, always a good way to go. She looked beautiful.

Then myself and my little brothers. My dress is a Jones New York number I got in Las Vegas. I love the way it floats on me. Plus the pattern, doesn't it look like the loveliest watercolour?

A group picture of my cousins, brothers, boyfriend and I. I'm posting this for all the boys, since I think they're all looking just so sharp (and everyone's got something unique going on I think.) Also my cousin Nicole's (the red head) awesome Betsey Johnson dress. Very cute and perfect for her slim frame. I know I couldn't pull it off.

And another picture of Nicole, this time with our cousin Jenni. Jenni's a teacher so I just wanted to note how she could probably wear her brown and black gap dress to work with a like cardigan thrown on top.

Lovely. That's all I've got. Along with a wish for happiness and love for Matt and Lori.

Love,

KelseyLynn
